Cutler's Donkey & Bull Show

Rowdy

Our first star is a Miniature Brahma Steer, named Rowdy. Most people know them as what the cowboys ride in Rodeos. Many of you may know Wiley Perterson of Fort Hall, ID. Wiley, our nephew, is a professional bull rider and most of the Brahma bulls he rides weigh about 2000 lbs, but Rowdy is tiny in comparison.

The Brahma cattle originated in India, by the country China and Pakistan on the other side of the world.

In India the breed are called Zebu cattle, they date back to 500 B.C. They were a smaller breed of cattle. Zebu cattle have a sweat gland and have an almost perfect immunity system. They can handle hot and cold weather better than our American cattle.

Zebu live long healthy lives typically living as long as 25 to 30 years! Early in American history, people heard about this hearty breed and shipped Zebu's to America to breed with their cattle, and the result was Brahma cattle. They were bred larger and today Brahmas are know as a large American breed. Today they are used primarily for their meat, breeding and for Rodeo Stock.

You can always tell a Brahma by the hump on their back, their dewlap under the necks, and their droopy ears.

Rowdy is 8 years old steer and weights 500 lbs. He is miniature about 40 inch tall We have Rowdy since he was 6 months old and he makes up one-half of Cutler's Mini Team.
